Eric Christiansen brings a wealth of experience to the court, having coached at a top 20 national level in both the Division I and Division III. He is currently the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at Christopher Newport University (CNU), where he has led the program for the past 13 years. Prior to CNU, Eric coached at Old Dominion University, a nationally ranked Division I program.
Before entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Eric worked full-time at a junior academy in Greensboro, North Carolina, and later founded his own successful academy in Newport News, Virginia. During this time, he was instrumental in the development of numerous high-level junior players, including two who reached the No. 1 ranking in the Mid-Atlantic region for their respective age divisions.
As a player, Eric competed at the Division I level for Radford University before transferring to the University of North Florida, a Division II powerhouse. At UNF, he served as a two-time team captain, achieved a top-20 national ranking in doubles for two consecutive years, and earned a regional ranking in singles. Following his collegiate career, Eric continued to compete before transitioning his focus fully to junior and collegiate player development.
A note from Chris:
Eric is one of the most professional and committed coaches I have ever shared the court with. From the first moment of training to the last, he is constantly engaged, always seeking for opportunities to teach, challenge, and elevate the players around him.
What truly sets Eric apart is his proven success at both the collegiate and junior levels, a rare combination that speaks to the depth of his coaching knowledge and his ability to develop players for long-term success. His understanding of how to prepare athletes to compete and win makes him an invaluable asset to our academy and a tremendous resource for every player he works with.
