Yorktown, VA | Rising Sophomore at Christopher Newport University
Rainer Christiansen returns to the Academy as an assistant coach, bringing high-level playing experience, energy, and a deep understanding of the game. A rising sophomore at Christopher Newport University, Rainer currently plays #5 singles and #3 doubles, helping lead his team to a national ranking of #19 during the 2024–2025 season.
Rainer trained under our Director, Chris Trizzino, for his final two years of high school, during which his UTR climbed from a 7 to a 10. Under Chris’s guidance, he captured state championships in both singles and doubles and earned his spot in CNU’s starting lineup.
Rainer is passionate about helping young athletes grow, both on and off the court. His experience as a junior standout and as a competitor on a nationally ranked college team gives him unique insight into the commitment and mindset required to succeed. We’re thrilled to have him back with the Academy, where his motivation and leadership will positively impact our players.
A note from Chris:
Having Rainer return to the Academy as a coach after previously training him as a junior is incredibly meaningful to me. He has a genuine understanding of the commitment, sacrifice, hard work, and belief required to become a high-level junior tennis player.
I have complete confidence in Rainer’s ability to carry forward our coaching philosophy while adding his own perspective as an active collegiate competitor. His work ethic, maturity, and playing experience make him an inspirational presence and a valuable asset to our players, both on and off the court.
